Enviro Trips™ staff goes the extra mile to look after the health and safety and security of students on our trips.
Our quest to provide inspiring educational tours for students is underpinned by a stringent approach to health and safety. We operate to the highest standards of care and responsibility.
Our Health & Safety Management System covers policy, organisation, planning and setting standards, monitoring, and audit and review. We undertake regular reviews of our health and safety procedures internally.
Managing health, Safety and risk in all our projects, initiatives and student field trips involves a series of steps to prevent accidents and injuries from occurring.
We work hard to know the hazards and risks, consider how they may affect workers and participants, and determine what you can do to control them. Once hazards are identified they are managed through a series of actions that are intended to eliminate or control the hazards. These risk control actions include:
- Exposure avoidance: Not engaging in the activity, for example, avoiding a set of rapids that are determined to be too difficult or dangerous by portaging around it.
- Loss prevention: Reducing the frequency or amount of time you are in contact with the hazard, for example, moving quickly through areas with hazardous rock fall overhead.
- Loss Reduction: Reducing the potential severity of incidents caused by a hazard, for example, restricting a ski group’s crossing an avalanche slope to one person at a time.
- Loss Segregation: Segregating responsibilities and duties to reduce the risk of erroneous and inappropriate actions, for example, having trips planned by one person, approved by another, and having leadership decisions in the field shared among more than one guide assists in reducing the risk of undertaking an inappropriate trip or inappropriate action while in the field.
Health & Safety Management System
We assess each component of a tour individually, which includes going beyond assessing the adventure factor (if any) to ensure risks can be managed effectively. In doing so, we look at how we can enhance the original experience whilst remaining as safe as possible.
Enviro Trips™ is committed to providing you with the help and support required to carry out risk assessments efficiently and successfully. Schools / colleges may have different requirements but we can provide you with information to assist with completing your safety documentation requirements. Safety checklists are completed for all our accommodation, transport and many of our activities.
We encourage a positive attitude to health and safety in all destinations, this displays our commitment to the high standards which we ask of our staff & third party operators. Risk assessments can be a daunting prospect and our goal is to make this process stress-free so you can focus on the actual tour! For more details about how we assess the risks of the components of your tour, please ask for our Safety Security & Risk document. This is shared once your trip is confirmed.
Prior to departing on tour you will be provided with safety information detailing the practical measures that need to be taken during your tour.
We have an Incident Management Plan in place to support us in all cases of accidents, incidents and emergency situations. This is maintained and regularly tested to ensure good practice and includes arrangements for responses to an incident 24 hours a day. All accidents and incident reports are kept complete for review of all levels of incidents.
In addition to our Safety Security & risk document, Enviro Trips ™ is committed to protect students on tour in the destinations we operate in. The welfare of every student is of paramount importance to us.
